Canary Islands registers five deaths, 214 new positives and 165 discharges in the last 24 hours

In addition to the one registered in Lanzarote, there have been three more deaths in Gran Canaria and one in Tenerife

The Canary Islands Ministry of Health has registered five new deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours -3 in Gran Canaria, one in Tenerife and another one in Lanzarote-, which brings the number of deaths in the islands to 198 people since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to the data balance that the Ministry of Health updates every day, 214 new positives have been detected in the last day from a total of 2,297 PCR, which is almost half of the tests that have been carried out in other days.

These positives raise the cumulative total to 10,864 people who have been diagnosed in the archipelago since the beginning of the pandemic, while 4,012 have been discharged from hospital (+165).

Therefore, there are 6,654 active cases (+44) in the Canary Islands, of which 54 are admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICU) -two more than on Sunday-, 216 are hospitalized (+14) and the rest, 6,384 people (-246), are in home isolation.

By islands, Gran Canaria has registered this Monday 132 new positives, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the health crisis to 6,170 positives, of which 4,697 are active cases, most of them in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. In addition, on the island 63 people have lost their lives (+3), and 1,410 have overcome the disease (+124).

Gran Canaria is followed by Tenerife with 60 new cases, bringing the total to 3,030 and 1,278 accumulated and active cases, respectively, registering a total of 120 deaths (+1) since the beginning of the pandemic.

For its part, Lanzarote, with 12 new cases, increases the accumulated cases to 955 and has 475 active patients. It has also registered 8 deaths since February (+1). In Fuerteventura, 10 new cases were recorded this Monday -the accumulated cases are 469 and the active cases are 147-, with one death registered last week.

For its part, in La Palma no positives have been registered, so the accumulated cases are 172 and the active cases are 33; with six deaths registered in total.

El Hierro and La Gomera have not registered cases in the last 24 hours and remain with 45 accumulated and 17 active, in the case of the first island, and 23 and 12 in the second, respectively.
