Two readers have reported to La Voz the felling of palm trees that has been carried out on the road that connects Tinajo with Tiagua. According to Christopher Ducksch, German and gardener by profession, the official reason is that the palm trees are "sick", although he questions that "perhaps they want to save on the process of transplanting them".
According to his testimony, to cut a leaf or transplant I am asked for permits and pruning courses. Therefore, he affirms that to save these costs they are doing "a massacre, which will have to be investigated if it is legal or just another botch job on this island".
For Benito Hernández, the operators "have killed about half of the palm trees" that were in the town of Tinajo that, according to him, "there are about 1,500". "They have already removed them and covered them with earth," he laments.
