More than 60 families from Calle Piragua, in Costa Teguise, report that they have been paying an extra cost on their water bill for almost 20 years, without the company responsible for the service, the City Council or the Consortium providing a solution to the problem.
A resident of the area explains to La Voz that they have had to bear the payment of almost 12 cubic meters more than they should, because the entity responsible for the water, Canal Gestión and the Water Consortium do not agree: "According to Canal Gestión, the street is private, and it was never handed over by the Teguise City Council, so they cannot act."
However, he also comments that when going to the Consistory they ratified that the road is of public ownership, but, although they have already had meetings twice in the last two years and from the corporation "they promised to solve it", the situation remains the same.
The different administrations "pass the buck to each other"
The resident of Calle Piragua explains that in the last two years they have tried to talk to those responsible from both the Consistory and the company and the Consortium, but the only answer is "that they pass the buck to each other."
"Canal Gestión claims that it has no responsibility over that street and that it needs the Consortium to hand it over, but the Consortium says it is Canal Gestión's problem... And in the meantime, the City Council, although it recognizes its part of the blame for having granted the license and habitability to an incomplete project in terms of water channeling, does nothing," details the resident.
Faced with this situation, both the complainant and the rest of the residents in the area have been having to endure this problem for almost 20 years, in the face of which they claim to be "frankly tired."
