A resident of Arrecife has contacted La Voz to report that they are against the use of the Lanzarote Sports City for concerts.
Specifically, he has enabled a signature collection campaign so that the space is exclusively dedicated to sports and not to holding concerts. "Recently they have made an investment of more than one million euros in reforming the facilities of the sports center and now they want to destroy them with concerts," says the neighbor.
According to complaints from the campaign, "in 2024, this space hosted two mega concerts that, although they brought entertainment to the island, ended with the closure of the soccer field, the athletics track and adjoining areas where athletes from clubs and federations trained daily."
"There are many of us who demanded facilities in good condition and now, after obtaining them, they want to destroy them again," he says. Likewise, they say that "in June the use of the Sports City will be limited again due to a new series of concerts."
Therefore, they ask that an alternative be sought outside this sports space to carry out the concerts and "guarantee that the sports facilities are not affected nor local athletes harmed."
On the other hand, they also ask for "a maintenance and protection plan for sports infrastructures that ensures their optimal condition for the development of activities of clubs, federations and users."
