The Cabildo of Lanzarote celebrates the success of a new edition of the Lanzarote Wine Run, an initiative that has once again turned La Geria into the best showcase of the Island's wine tradition and an opportunity to bring residents and visitors closer to the reality of one of the most unique agricultural landscapes in the world.
The event has made it possible to tour and discover a territory shaped over centuries by the effort of Lanzarote's winegrowers, protagonists of a unique landscape that has managed to turn the most adverse conditions of the volcanic environment into an internationally recognized form of cultivation.
The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, expressed his "pride in the celebration of the new edition of a unique race in the world" where one can enjoy "healthy habits, nature, and local produce in an unparalleled enclave".
Words with which the Minister of Landscape and Food Sovereignty, Samuel Martín, agrees, adding that the Wine Run Lanzarote is "an immersive experience that allows the more than 1,900 runners from more than 30 nationalities and the rest of the public to enjoy different ways of discovering the environment of La Geria, generating awareness and respect for the conservation of Lanzarote's agricultural landscape".
For his part, the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, emphasized the social dimension of the meeting, pointing out that "throughout the weekend Uga and the surroundings of La Geria have once again become a meeting point for thousands of people, generating activity in the municipality and giving visibility to sectors that are part of our identity".
Throughout the weekend, thousands of people have participated in the extensive program aimed at all audiences, with children's activities, musical performances, and meeting spaces centered around wine and local produce. The celebration of the Wine Run Kids once again brought the youngest ones closer to this event, while the cultural and musical program contributed to generating a festive atmosphere linked to Lanzarote's identity and traditions.

The traditional prize of weight in wine once again capped off the day, linking the recognition of the winners with the most representative product of La Geria. The Wine Run also maintains its commitment to the territory through the Salvar La Geria project, which contributes to the development of actions aimed at the conservation and improvement of this unique agricultural landscape.
As a symbol of the historical link between the landscape of La Geria and those who have shaped it for generations, two camels accompanied different moments of the route and the celebration, paying homage to the fundamental role these animals have played in the development of traditional Lanzaroteña viticulture.
Inclusion with Diver seal
The event once again had the Diver seal, guaranteeing accessibility in the different spaces and activities developed during the weekend. Among the initiatives promoted, the presence of Joëlette chairs stood out, which allowed people with reduced mobility to participate thanks to the support of volunteer teams. In addition, several visually impaired individuals completed the route accompanied by guide runners using adapted guidance systems and permanent communication, making their participation possible on equal terms.
The Creciendo Lanzarote Association once again played a leading role on the day, collaborating in the medal ceremony with the authorities and contributing to one of the most emotional moments of the event.
The Wine Festival, a meeting point for wine culture
In parallel, the Wine Festival once again brought together in Uga the wineries of the Designation of Origin Wines of Lanzarote, offering the public the opportunity to learn about the diversity and quality of the wines produced on the Island, as well as the close relationship between the landscape, culture, and agricultural activity.
The president of the Regulatory Council of the DOP Wines of Lanzarote, Jorge Rodríguez, valued the opportunity that this meeting provides to bring the work carried out by the sector throughout the year closer to the public and to continue disseminating the uniqueness of the wines produced in Lanzarote.
Wine tastings, gastronomy based on local produce, and direct contact with winemakers and winegrowers allowed residents and visitors to better understand the uniqueness of La Geria's agricultural model and the effort behind each harvest.
