Denounces the "paralysis" of the La Geria electrification project

"It is not understood that places like Las Coloradas, with illegal hotels, have electrification, and La Geria, which is sold at Fitur and ITB as a unique landscape, cannot have that asset," criticizes a citizen

A neighbor has contacted La Voz to denounce the "paralysis" surrounding the La Geria electrification project

This neighbor explains that his mother was born in La Geria 90 years ago and indicates that "with effort and dedication she created a unique space, like many neighbors in unison, making that environment a spectacular landscape, all without knowing the impact it would have in the days to come."

However, he laments that La Geria still lacks "electrification and water." "In other words, the best vineyards on the island do not have enough supply and the most important wineries must look for energy alternatives," says this man, who points out that "if economic interests and market strategies are put first, it is not understood that places like Las Coloradas, with illegal hotels, have electrification, and La Geria, which is sold at Fitur and ITB as a unique landscape, cannot have that asset."

In this regard, he points out that he wants to make it clear that "the channeling was carried out a few years ago", but indicates that "due to a complaint it was paralyzed" and that "the paralysis of the Cabildo and the City Council is notorious" in this matter.  "La Geria deserves attention more than ever," claims this neighbor, pointing out that "in his day a former president swelled with pride in the project 'Save La Geria' when "this space needs water and light more than campaign marketing."

"A first phase was done, a second phase was pending and I think that even a judicial issue was resolved regarding the location of the transformer, which at that time seemed to be private property. That was settled and now the environmental impact study of the second phase is missing in order to continue it and finish reaching the houses or areas where it needs to reach," said the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, regarding the La Geria electrification project, on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero.

"It is true that it is an issue that should be resolved as soon as possible, just like water. For water, practically the main thing is done, but now we have to take the ramifications to the neighbors or the houses where people reside and there we are also in conversations with the Cabildo and the Consortium to see how those issues are going," concluded the southern mayor.
