Agents of the National Police of Arrecife have proceeded to the arrest of five people, between 55 and 58 years of age, as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of drug trafficking and membership in a criminal organization, following an operation developed by the Narcotics Group of Judicial Police, in the town of Costa Teguise.
The police investigation began in September 2025, before the start of the school year, when, thanks to the collaboration of an educational center, the presence of a motorhome parked in the facility's parking lot was detected, which was allegedly being used for the storage of narcotic substances.
In a first action, the agents arrested two people linked to the vehicle, seizing 20 kilograms of cocaine inside, as well as more than 115,000 euros in cash in the home search of one of those involved.
The researchers focused their efforts on identifying the rest of the network members, managing to determine the involvement of an individual residing on another island, who maintained contact with those arrested in relation to the seized shipment, as well as detecting various movements and encounters with another individual with a record for drug trafficking.
Last April 18, agents established a surveillance operation after observing a new movement of the investigated individuals, and managed to locate a dwelling in the municipality of Haría, where one of the involved parties collected a large package that he put into a vehicle.
Subsequently, the agents attempted to intercept the vehicle at the entrance to Costa Teguise. Given the driver's refusal to stop, a pursuit was initiated which ended on a road in the town, where the car was finally intercepted and the two people involved were arrested at that time.
Inside the transported luggage, agents located 40 packages containing cocaine, with a total gross weight of 21.5 kilograms and an estimated value exceeding 750,000 euros on the illegal market.
After this intervention, a search and seizure was carried out at the residence linked to the investigation, proceeding to the arrest of the rest of the members of the organization.
The detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, which ordered the imprisonment of the main leader of the dismantled criminal organization.
