A neighbor from Piragua street in Costa Teguise has contacted La Voz to make public the struggle in which he claims the residents of this street are immersed with Canal Gestión. "Because there is a water leak on the street and they don't take responsibility for repairing it," says Nicolás Girota.
According to him, their fight has been going on for "more than 10 years" when it was Inalsa, but it still continues. And, this man claims that "Canal Gestión does not recognize the street as public." "The City Council has it cataloged as public, but they say we are an urbanization, when we are not, we are 60 homes and that's it," he points out.
Thus, he affirms that the public company refuses to repair the breakdown, which he assures they know exists because of the invoices that Canal Gestión charges them. And, this neighbor points out that although "each one has their meter", they are charged "a difference" for what "a general meter, which was the construction meter" counts. "They keep insisting and they charge us about 12 cubic meters of water each. Imagine the amount of money there," he points out.
Specifically, this neighbor calculates that those affected may have already paid between "100,000 and 150,000 euros more." "And you calculate 12,000 liters per 60 homes. It's crazy the amount of water that must be underneath," adds this man, who fears that one day there will be "a sinkhole" in the street. In fact, he points out that "some neighbor who has made a pool has found the land very humid."
"I don't know how many times different neighbors have gone to Canal Gestión and there is no way, with them there is no way to do anything. I think the first thing you have to have to work at Inalsa is no empathy, because it's like talking to a wall," adds Nicolás Girota, who explains that now they have also decided to ask for help from the Teguise City Council and the Cabildo. "Because we want them to remove that general meter and fix what they have to fix," he concludes.
