A reader residing in Lanzarote has contacted La Voz to report that some businesses and establishments on the island whose owners are foreigners have the menu or signage only in their own language.

The neighbor, who has resided on the island for five years, says that he received a leaflet from a dental clinic in Arrecife at his home. "My surprise was when, wanting to read it, everything was in German... everything," he explains.

"I think it's fantastic that they provide that service in their native language, but I find it outrageous that it's not also put in the local language," the reader defends.

Furthermore, he continues saying that "it may seem silly, but it's a sign of little appreciation for our culture, our language because a tourist is a tourist and a resident should be something else."
