Lanzarote residents who can access IMSERSO trips do not understand why the routes never depart from Arrecife, but are forced to travel to Gran Canaria airport to reach the Peninsula. This Tuesday, the 6th, reservations already began for Canary Islands users to travel between November of this year and June 2013.

According to José Medina, the problem for Lanzarote residents is that Mundosenior.es only organizes trip departures from Gran Canaria and never from Lanzarote. Therefore, the residents of Lanzarote who want to take a trip with IMSERSO are forced to buy "out of their own pockets" a round trip ticket to Gran Canaria.

However, he explains that Mundosenior.es "returns" this money after "between one and three months." To do this, users must submit the required documentation.

In addition, the problem goes further if travelers have to spend a night in Gran Canaria because the schedules do not match. "You have to pay for one or two nights in a hotel out of your own pocket," he criticizes, while stating that this season the connections with Lanzarote are "very scarce."

"Spanish areas such as Ceuta, Melilla, Ibiza or Menorca, with a similar number of inhabitants to Lanzarote, have almost 20 departures in the season. Why do they discriminate against us, the residents of Lanzarote?" he asks.
