A reader has contacted La Voz to report that she suffered a fall on Avenida de los Geranios, in Maneje, which caused her various injuries due to a poorly placed manhole that was sunken. However, the woman has requested a response from the Arrecife City Council to receive compensation for the damages.
It all happened on December 9 when the neighbor went to throw out the garbage and due to the poor lighting and a sunken manhole, the woman fell. This caused her a fracture in one of her arms, in one of her knees, and, in addition, her glasses broke for which she had to pay 85 euros.
She says that she has been calling the City Council for two years to increase the lighting on this street in Arrecife. On December 21, the neighbor informed the capital City Council so that it would take measures and condition the area. The sidewalks are destroyed and they start fixing other streets in Arrecife that are better than this one," she says.
The woman received a letter from the Arrecife City Council but they have not given her any response, but rather indicated that "it will take six months to respond." "I want them to compensate me for the damages because I broke my glasses and my hand was in a cast until after Christmas, so I am doing rehabilitation," she continues.
In addition to the poor condition of the sidewalks, the neighbor says that "the shock absorber of the car broke due to the potholes and holes in the road." "Two other women have also fallen on the sidewalk, although they did not report it," she says.
"I went to the Local Police to report it because I am already tired of them, they always tell me that they will send someone from works to fix it but they never come and they have had me like this for two years, you can't deceive people like that, the only thing they have put is the light but I want them to condition the sidewalks and the road," she concludes.
