A family living in a duplex in Los Geranios, in the Altavista neighborhood, are alarmed by the water bill they have received some months. They have reported to La Voz the high amount of money that Canal Gestión has charged them for the service. A total of 700 euros in two invoices, "in June they charged us 250 euros and in September, another 450 euros," the woman highlighted.
After the issuance of the invoices to the house, the family consulted Canal Gestión and they commented that "it could be due to a leak." Therefore, they decided to look for a plumber on their own to check the condition of the meter. "They charged us 60 euros, they told us that there was no leak and that the meter was in good condition," she said.
Finally, they had to pay the amount to Canal Gestión, despite having verified that it is not a matter of the house. "The plumber's paper in which he notifies the good functioning of the meter is not valid for them," she clarifies. They assure that "it has to be reviewed by one from the Consortium," she added.
Not being satisfied with the final solution, they proceeded to "file a claim with consumer affairs and Canal Gestión." Something that was not of much help to them, since they "scared them" and "kind of threatened them" when they went to complain: "My mother went desperately to Canal Gestión, given that we had a cut-off notice, and they told us that it was best to pay, that it would be worse if they cut off the water," she highlighted.
A situation that has led them to have health problems. "My mother had an anxiety attack and had to take a pill to calm down," she says worriedly.
"They told us that it was best to pay, that it would be worse if they cut off the water"
They were told that the cut-off would be effective on December 5th and "they did not respond to the claim," she pointed out. Something they also did not do before passing them the bills with those "surprising" amounts. "It is not normal that they do not warn," the woman complained. And even less the answer they have given in customer service: "if we have to warn everyone, we would be sending messages all day long", she said. Some "unpleasant" answers downplaying the situation: "Those 450 euros are nothing, we have seen bills of 1200 and 1800 euros."
In addition, this month of November they have received a new bill and to their surprise, the amount that has arrived has been 50 euros, an amount they were used to paying normally. "The meter has already been regulated as if by magic," she added. Which leads them to believe that "they may have manipulated the meter", and they remember that "two people have been looking at the meters and taking photographs" without them being present at the home.
A strange situation in which they "do not know the origin of the supply expenses that they have charged them," they concluded to the newspaper. What they are clear about is that "it is not legal for them to enter to look at the meter without us being there."
