Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote fulfilled its pending task and signed a resounding victory in the Anaitasuna Pavilion, prevailing 21-32 against Wise Anaitasuna, the only team that had managed to defeat them in the first round. With this triumph, the Lanzarote team maintains its firm step towards direct promotion, reinforcing its advantage in the classification with an increasingly solid game.
The match began with Zonzamas very serious in defense, closing spaces and hindering Anaitasuna's attacks. However, in attack the visitors did not find fluidity, which allowed the Navarre team to stay in the game thanks to their speed on the counterattack. In the 18th minute, after an exclusion of Nahomi Márquez, Anaitasuna took advantage of the superiority to tie at 7, generating some uncertainty in Zonzamas.
Coach Juan José Rivera called a time-out at that key moment, and from there the match changed completely. The Lanzarote team began to find their game, strengthened their defense and unleashed their offensive potential. Anaitasuna tried to stop the onslaught with a time-out, but it was of little use. Zonzamas, led by an inspired Gleinys Reyes, closed the first half with a devastating partial that left the score at 9-14 at halftime.
The second half began with an authentic missile from Agustina López, marking territory from the first attack. However, the exclusion of Nahomi Márquez for the third time, and her consequent disqualification, generated some distraction, which allowed Anaitasuna to momentarily cut distances. The locals moved their defense forward to try to stop a Zonzamas that, although somewhat imprecise in those minutes, never lost control of the match.
When the Navarre team seemed to be approaching, Zonzamas responded forcefully. With Ana Martín blocking the goal and an increasingly suffocating defense, the visitors took off again. In the 20th minute, Irene Botella put the 17-27 on the scoreboard, leaving the match practically sentenced. With the match on track, Rivera requested a time-out to give his team air and ensure victory with peace of mind.
Zonzamas closed the match with solidity, with a defense that blocked any attempt at local reaction and an attack that continued to add with order. The final touch was put by Gabriela Romero, transforming a penalty that established the definitive 21-32, thus sealing a victory with a taste of revenge.
