The debut of Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote in the Guerreras Iberdrola League began with an emotional minute of silence in memory of Juan Ramón de León Tejera, former president of the club who recently passed away. Immediately afterwards, the ball started rolling and the match between the batatero team and Mecalia Atlético Guardés offered intensity and alternatives from the first moment.

Guardés struck first with a quick counterattack, although Brenda's immediate response set the tone for a Zonzamas that did not back down. The local defense in six meters and the interventions of Valentina Menucci under the sticks supported the Lanzarote team, who even took the lead in the 7:13 minute (4-3) thanks to Gleinys Reyes.

The exchange of goals maintained equality, with Sancha scoring from seven meters and Nahomi Márquez's exclusions as a local handicap. Even so, Juanmi Pérez's team reached its maximum income so far with a 9-7 after Lorena Zarco's goal in the 21st minute, forcing the Galician coach, Ana Seabra, to stop the match with 10-8 in the 24th minute. Zonzamas knew how to maintain its pulse and reached halftime with an exciting advantage (12-10).

In the restart, the Lanzarote team surprised with a 5:1 defense led by Paula García, which bothered the Galician circulation. Guardés, stuck in attack, only found the goal from seven meters, while Marie Louis and Reyes gave air to the locals (20-17, min. 45). However, the visitor's reaction was not long in coming: Seabra's team opted to attack with seven players and, with the speed of Ania Ramos and the reliability from seven meters of Cifuentes, they turned the score around (21-22, min. 50).

Zonzamas felt the effort and lack of success in the decisive minutes, crashing against the posts and against a very safe Mínguez in the goal. Guardés, more experienced, knew how to slow down the pace and stretch the income to a final 23-28 that does not reflect the equality experienced during three quarters of the match.

Mecalia Atlético Guardés starts its title defense with a victory, while Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote leaves a very competitive image, capable of tutoring the current champion for many minutes.
