The league continues in its final stretch and Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote faced Lobas Global Atac Oviedo at home yesterday to try to mathematically certify first place in the league after achieving promotion to the elite in the previous match and thus put the finishing touch to a perfect season. Although the match started well for the island club, an irregular second half ended up tying the score and leaving the feat for later.

The first half started thick, with few goals and many losses. Brenda Roger, who established herself as the top scorer of the match, put the 6-5 on the scoreboard after an individual play in the middle of the first half and helped the team pick up the pace.

The last minutes of the first half were the best for Zonzamas, who after a beautiful goal by Irene Botella and a great outside shot by Gabi Romero reached halftime with a 13-10 lead that gave some confidence.

The second half was another story. Lobas Global Atac Oviedo wanted to fight to the end to stay alive in the fight for promotion and, although Zonzamas even managed to increase the advantage for a few minutes, Andrea Claramonte's exclusion in the 37th minute began to make the match uphill.

Lobas's tie came in the 42nd minute from the wing with a very inspired Marta Siñol who put the 16-16 on the scoreboard and set off the alarms on the local bench. As the minutes passed, the Asturian team gained ground and Zonzamas did not find fluidity or efficiency in attack. In the 48th minute and also from the wing, now from the right, came the goal that put the maximum income that Lobas had with the 20-17 threatening the feat of Zonzamas.

In the final stretch of the match, Zonzamas had to pull from grit to try to reverse the situation. Ingrid Roger and Irene Botella, with two goals each, took the match on their backs and managed to close the score and tie at 22 with a minute and a half to go. A penalty transformed by Siñol when only 30 seconds remained for the end unleashed euphoria among the visitors, but a great shot by Nahomi Marquez almost on the horn certified the distribution of points.
