Swimming, sailing, tennis, paddle tennis or psychomotor skills. These are some of the activities that make up "Get in shape", the ambitious summer campaign organized by the Department of Youth and Sports of the Yaiza City Council, under the responsibility of Evaristo García, and which aims to be a forum for the youngest in the municipality, and the not so young, to unleash their sporting concerns in the summer months.

Get in shape officially starts next June 30. That day, the VI Swimming Campaign will begin, which includes two-week courses aimed at students, from 0 years old, between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The great novelty this year is the launch of a Maternity swimming course, which will be held daily between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The swimming campaign will end on August 22.

The sports facilities of Yaiza, soon to be inaugurated, and the Kikoland center, in Playa Blanca, will be the setting, on the other hand, for Multi-sports, a novel initiative that aims to entertain boys and girls from 6 years old, with a wide range of cultural, sports and recreational activities. It will be every day, between 08:00 and 14:00 hours.

The sea, also a protagonist

The sea also has its share of prominence in Get in shape. The facilities of the Municipal Sailing School, located in the Marina Rubicón Sports Port, will host courses in different nautical disciplines. Children from eight years of age and adults can start or perfect their technique in Optimist, laser and windsurf classes or practice canoeing.

Racquet sports, in this case tennis, and the fashionable sport, paddle tennis, also have their space in this campaign. There will be tennis classes for children and adults on the tennis courts of Kikoland and in the sports facilities of Yaiza. Paddle tennis classes, aimed at adults, will be taught in Marina Rubicón.

Another novelty of Get in shape are the psychomotor classes for children from 3 to 5 years of age, which will be taught on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the sports facilities of Yaiza.

In addition, the southern Youth and Sports area has organized a series of specific activities related to hiking and speleology, which will be held throughout the months of July and August.

To sign up

Those citizens interested in taking part in Get in shape, should go to the offices of the Department of Youth and Sports of the Yaiza City Council, located next to the football field, or to the Municipal Offices of Playa Blanca, both from 09:00 to 14:00 hours.
