Unión Sur Yaiza Grupo Rosa, sole leader after the third day of the Island Council League of Lanzarote

The Lanzarote youth team is eliminated from the Pancho Camurria tournament, after being defeated by Tenerife 12 to 2. The final will be played by this team against the Gran Canaria team.

Last weekend, the third day of the XXII Island of Lanzarote Tournament was held, a competition organized by the Island Federation and sponsored by the Island Council, through the Island Sports Service.

The first fight was held on Thursday night, in the Uga warehouse arena, where Unión Sur Yaiza Grupo Rosa and Tao Cicar tied at 12. The second fight took place in the «Luís Montero» arena in Haría, where Unión Norte Orvecame and Tinajo faced each other, with a final victory for the northerners by 12 to 9. Little to tell in this fight where Agustín Mayor was in charge of taking down, among others, Suso Hernández, while Pepe Martel and Chucho Lozano were disqualified for warnings.

The fight of the day was held on Saturday night in the arena of the Socio-Cultural Center of Playa Honda, where Mega Centro Playa Honda and Tías Cabrera Medina Hotel Fariones faced each other, an event that ended with a victory for the locals by 12 1 11. With a good turnout of fans and arbitration by Sebastián Lemes, a fight began where Juan Luis Goya stood out for the visitors, defeating Francis García; Orlando Medina, who did the same with José Miguel Fontes; and Samuel Hernández, who managed to defeat Emilio Elvira. But the most outstanding fighter and who gave the victory to the locals was Carlos Moreno, who defeated no less than six opponents, including Orlando Medina, Juan Luis Goya, Kiren González, Samuel Hernández and José Domingo de León.

After this day, Unión Sur Yaiza Grupo Rosa continues at the top of the standings, with 7 points in three fights played; the second place is for Mega Centro Playa Honda, which has its two fights won and 6 points; the third place is for San Bartolomé Construcciones Acosta, with four points; with three points, in fourth and fifth place, are Tías Cabrera Medina and Unión Norte Orvecame; while the seventh and last place is for Tinajo Construcciones Guadayca, which has not scored so far in this competition.

The fourth day, with federal sanctions in all fights

The fourth day begins to be played this coming Thursday in the municipal arena of Tinajo, with the fight between Tinajo and Mega Centro Playa Honda. The locals have the absence of Chucho Lozano due to federal sanction and the doubt of Toni Rodríguez Valerón due to injury. On Friday night, Tao Cicar, with the absence of its leader Jorge Quintero due to sanction, will receive Unión Norte Orvecame. Finally, the most outstanding fight of this day will be played in the «Feluco Paz» arena, with the confrontation between San Bartolomé Construcciones Acosta, which has the notable absence of its leader Efraín Perera, and Unión Sur Yaiza Grupo Rosa. Tías Cabrera Medina will rest during this day. All the fights this week have sanctioned fighters, all of them for being eliminated twice for warnings.

The Lanzarote youth team, eliminated from the Pancho Camurria

Last Sunday, the semifinals of the Pancho Camurria regional tournament for youth teams were held, with two fights, the first of them on the island of Tenerife, where the team representing said island defeated Lanzarote 12 1 2. The points in favor of our island were scored by Francisco Rodríguez «Tino», from San Bartolomé Construcciones Acosta, and Jesús Pérez, from Mega Centro Playa Honda. The other semifinal was played by the teams from Gran Canaria and La Palma, with a victory for the former by 12 to 7. The grand final of this tournament will be played by the teams from Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
