A competitive and balanced match was played on Saturday afternoon between Unión Sur Yaiza and Villa de Santa Brígida. A match that had a lot of pace in the first half, a period in which the two goals were scored, and that would drop a lot in the second half. With two minutes left in the match, Unión Sur Yaiza had an excellent opportunity to leave the three points in Lanzarote. Miguel Yunes was unable to convert the penalty committed on his teammate Robert into a goal. In the end, a one-goal draw on the scoreboard left the teams satisfied with the work done throughout the 90 minutes of play.
The first minutes of the match were marked by inaccuracies when circulating the ball. A game that mostly took place in the central part of the field, an area in which the two teams fought to take control of the game. Little by little, Unión Sur Yaiza took the initiative of the game, reaching the vicinity of the goal defended by Pablo Varela with greater danger.
A cross shot by Dani in the second minute that failed to find the three posts of the goal, and a header by Ubay in the 13th minute, were the first warnings from Unión Sur Yaiza. Villa de Santa Brígida did not give up on the attack and showed part of its danger in the 15th minute. A low shot by Mauri from the edge of the area forced goalkeeper Doramas to stretch and avoid a possible goal.
Unión Sur Yaiza managed to take the lead in the 21st minute of the first half. Goalkeeper Doramas made a long clearance, the ball won the back of the Villa de Santa Brígida defense, Miguel Yunes controlled the ball to face Pablo Varela and with a left-footed shot put the ball next to the base of the post.
The joy lasted only six minutes for the local team, the time it would take Villa de Santa Brígida to equalize on the scoreboard. Yeray Ortega would be in charge of making it a draw. Until the end of the first half, the two teams tried, although they were not able to create danger in either of the two goals. With a one-goal draw, the first half would come to an end.
In the second half, the pace of the game played by the two teams on the field dropped a lot. The game would be balanced in the center of the field and most of the chances came from set pieces. In the 55th minute, Antonio Yeray tried with a shot from the edge of the area and Pablo Varela stopped it in two stages. And Ubay was unable to take advantage of a good pass from Vladimir, sending his shot high from inside the area.
In the final stretch, the match could have gone to either of the two teams. With two minutes left, a clear foul by Carreño on Robert inside the area was punished by the referee as a penalty. Miguel Yunes was in charge of executing the penalty, but was not successful and sent the shot over the crossbar. The response from Villa de Santa Brígida was immediate and Figueroa then sent a shot to the crossbar. And in injury time, Agustín failed to beat Doramas when he was in a good position.
In the end, a one-goal draw between Unión Sur Yaiza and Villa de Santa Brígida. A point that allows Yaiza to continue in a comfortable position in the middle of the table and a draw that prevents Villa de Santa Brígida from taking advantage of the draw between CD Tenerife "B" and Mensajero, two of the teams that are in the play-off zone of the Third Division.
