The derby that inaugurated the Third Federation, between CD Unión Sur Yaiza and UD Lanzarote, which ended in a draw on the scoreboard, had something very different from football as its protagonist, and it was the "shameful and embarrassing" attitude of two fans of the rojillo team, who have been banned from entering the matches.
"UD Lanzarote cannot allow this type of attitude, especially during a football match, where fans attend to enjoy what happens on the field and encourage their players," the rojillo club said in a statement through its Facebook profile, where it also apologized "for the reprehensible attitude of these two people," who it says "do not represent the club."
In addition, the rojillo club has publicly apologized to Unión Sur Yaiza, which has thanked the decision and has described the event as an "isolated case."
"In the numerous derbies that have been played between clubs, cordiality and respect have always been offered. We reiterate our gratitude for knowing the measures to be taken and here you have us for any help that we can provide within our possibilities," added the southern club in a statement signed by the president, José Santiago Díaz Vera.
