UD Lanzarote returned to the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote on Saturday afternoon, premiering the new turf with a narrow victory against CD Marino. The Tenerife team had seen the results go their way to seize the lead in the competition, a possibility that vanished five minutes before the end of the match. Ángel Gil was in charge of ending CD Marino's dream, taking advantage of a good pass from his teammate Rosmen. UD Lanzarote achieves its second consecutive victory and for the second week keeps a clean sheet.
From the start of the match, CD Marino tried to take control of the game, although this control did not materialize into dangerous chances. On the contrary, UD Lanzarote had many problems keeping possession of the ball and made many mistakes in ball circulation.
The clearest chance of the first half came in the 10th minute and was for CD Marino. A cross from the wing was taken advantage of by Mendi, who shot from the small area, and Agoney with his body prevented the ball from sneaking into his goal. The pace of the match slowed down as the minutes passed, turning into a dull match with hardly any dangerous chances.
The first half would end with a shot from Echedey from the edge of the area, which went into the hands of goalkeeper Alberto. The first half of the match would conclude with a goalless draw.
The game that the two teams displayed did not improve in the second half, even boring the fans who were in the stands of the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote. A second half that began with a shot from Josymar that went close to the base of the post. An opportunity that was a mirage, as until the final stretch no one was able to get dangerously close to either of the two areas.
The match would liven up with five minutes remaining. Rosmen controlled a ball inside the area, almost falling to the ground he put a ball to the far post, and Ángel Gil who came from behind sent the ball into the back of the net.
The goal woke up CD Marino, launching themselves in search of the equalizing goal. The Tenerife team had the best chances in added time. In the 89th minute, Eslava tried with a shot from inside the area that went into Agoney's hands. And in the 94th minute, Airam executed a closed corner kick, the ball was repelled by the post, and the rebound was picked up by Eslava who shot over a defender.
The match would conclude with a score of 1-0. Second consecutive victory for UD Lanzarote and second week in which Adolfo Pérez's team manages to keep a clean sheet. CD Marino misses an excellent opportunity to seize the lead, not taking advantage of the defeats of Atlético Granadilla and CD Tenerife "B".
