Great match played by UD Lanzarote at Juan Guedes, defeating one of the candidates to fight for promotion and presenting, if they hadn't already, their credentials to fight for the positions that give the right to play in the promotion play-offs. The Rojillos, in their last match of the year, won 1-4 against UD Tamaraceite.
The match started with a good pace and chances for both teams. Gonzalo Di Renzo and Ismael Traore had the first two chances for Lanzarote, although the first setback came soon. Midfielder Javi Martín had to retire injured and was replaced by Rodrigo.
After the first half hour of the match, UD Lanzarote's first goal arrived. In a corner kick, Raúl headed inside the area and the ball was saved by goalkeeper Rubén Torres. Gonzalo Di Renzo picked up the rebound at the far post and sent the ball into the back of the net. The first half ended with the score at 0-1.
UD Tamaraceite pushed hard at the start of the second half, managing to equalize in the 19th minute of the restart through Asdríbal Padrón. It only took UD Lanzarote two minutes to regain the lead, with Gonzalo Di Renzo receiving the ball inside the area and beating the local goalkeeper.
UD Lanzarote put some distance between themselves in the 72nd minute. Fabricio was in charge of executing a free kick from the edge of the area, the shot went over the wall and into the goal. And the final score would come in the final minutes, with
Gonzalo Di Renzo winning the ball behind the defense and beating the UD Tamaraceite goalkeeper from below.
Comfortable victory for UD Lanzarote against UD Tamaraceite to end the year in fifth position in the standings. The Rojillos will host Estrella CF in the first week of January, a match that will close the first round of group XII of the Third Federation.
