UD Lanzarote was defeated on the opening day of the Third Division, after falling 2-1 to UD Guía. The rojillos dominated the first half, although they lacked the punch to take advantage of the general attacking actions. In the second half, Josu Uribe's team disappeared from the field, a circumstance that the Gran Canaria team took advantage of to take all three points.
The first half of the match was dominated by UD Lanzarote, being the team that was best positioned on the field, although the Lanzarote team lacked punch in the final meters to complete the attacking actions. The best chance came from a set piece, with a corner kick from Nando that Víctor finished off at the far post, and which the goalkeeper took over the line.
UD Guía shook off the visiting dominance, being able to equalize the forces in the last ten minutes of the first half and even dare to reach the goal defended by Ruymán with danger. Edu was left alone in front of the goalkeeper and his shot went wide. The score was tied at zero at halftime.
An error in the frontal area in the first minute of the second half cost UD Lanzarote the goal. The loose ball was finished off by Joaquín with his right leg and beat Ruymán's stretch. The goal disrupted the plans of the Lanzarote team, disappearing from the field and conceding the second goal in the 66th minute, again scored by Joaquín.
UD Lanzarote stretched the lines in search of the goal that would get them back into the game, although they did not have the depth to create danger on the goal defended by Primo. A goal that came in the 93rd minute, when Ayoze Pérez executed a distant free kick and the ball ended up inside the goal.
2-1 defeat for UD Lanzarote against UD Guía on the opening day of the Third Division, in a match with two totally different halves. Next Sunday, the rojillos will debut at the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote receiving Unión Viera.
