UD Lanzarote continues in ascending progression, after adding on Saturday morning the third victory since the competition resumed and leaving sensations of being a very solid team despite all the problems it has encountered along the way. The rojillos controlled the match at all times and it was in the second half when the goals of Miguel Gómez and Guti arrived, goals that served to conquer the three points.
During the first part of the match, UD Lanzarote prevented Unión Viera from feeling comfortable on the field, not allowing the locals to have control of the ball and putting strong pressure to close their lines of creation. As a result, the game in the first half was quite even.
The rojillo team made three shots on goal in the first 45 minutes, with goalkeeper Guanche not having excessive problems to stop the shots. For its part, Unión Viera did not approach with danger the goal defended by Alejandro, and the Lanzarote goalkeeper was a luxury spectator in a first half that concluded with a goalless draw.
UD Lanzarote continued to control the match in the second half, although the burden of minutes on the players' legs was beginning to show in order to have sufficient freshness. In addition, as soon as the period began, central defender Josua Benítez had to retire injured and Dani González took his place.
After the halfway point of the second half, the goal arrived that put UD Lanzarote ahead on the scoreboard. Miguel Gómez controlled a ball inside the area and with a shot with the outside of his foot put the ball in the squad of the Unión Viera goal.
The goal left the local players upset and just five minutes later the visitors increased the difference on the scoreboard. Guti with a powerful shot from the front of the area beat goalkeeper Guanche, achieving a beautiful goal and putting land in between to add the victory.
UD Lanzarote had to suffer in the final minutes of the match. In one of the few arrivals of the opponent to the area, Unión Viera managed to cut the difference. A header from Dani Tejera “Zizu” beat goalkeeper Alejandro and we had to continue working to defend the advantage that the rojillos had at this time.
Like the entire match, Unión Viera ran into a UD Lanzarote well positioned on the field, leaving no gaps and doing a tremendous job to conquer the three points that were at stake.
1-2 victory for UD Lanzarote against Unión Viera, the third since the competition resumed for the rojillos, which allows them to continue climbing positions in the standings and get closer to the quiet zone. Next Wednesday new trip to Gran Canaria to face UD Las Palmas “C”.
