UD Lanzarote visited Unión Puerto on Sunday, facing the fourth matchday of the Canary Islands group of the Third Division. The "rojillos" were accompanied by a large group of fans, turning the stands of the Municipal de Los Pozos red. The players trained by Jero Santana starred in a good first half, in which they obtained a two-goal advantage. In the second half, they had to suffer to add the first victory of the season.
The match began with the dominance of UD Lanzarote, a team that took just eight minutes to take the lead on the scoreboard. After a corner kick, Adrián "Chino" finished unmarked at the far post, and sent the ball into the back of the net. Minutes later, Miguel Gopar and Ayoze Pérez with shots could not beat Paquito.
After the first half hour of the match, the second goal of UD Lanzarote arrived. A powerful long-range shot from Raúl surprised the local goalkeeper, the ball sneaking in next to the corner of the goal. The match reached its conclusion with the score at 0-2.
Unión Puerto reduced the difference at the beginning of the second half, with José Chata beating Alejandro. It was time to suffer to hold on to the narrow advantage, with UD Lanzarote looking for a counterattack to beat Unión Puerto, who had stretched their lines. Rosmen brought peace of mind in the 70th minute, when he took advantage of a loose ball inside the area.
It took Unión Puerto just four minutes to reduce the difference on the scoreboard again, with Mariano finishing off a counterattack. The team from Majorera suffered the expulsion of Juanjo with a double yellow card with eleven minutes remaining, at which point the match was definitively broken in favor of the "rojillos". And minutes later Alex was sent off for a hard tackle.
With the score at 2-3, the match came to an end, with UD Lanzarote adding their first victory of the season and not losing sight of the top-ranked teams in the Third Division. The "rojillos" will host Villa de Santa Brígida next week, a team that fell this Sunday morning against Gran Tarajal (2-4).
