This Thursday marks the start of the twenty-second edition of the La Candelaria Tournament Memorial Amigos del Magec for cadet basketball, an attractive competition that will feature the presence of Canary Island, national and international teams and is played in the men's and women's categories.
In the men's category, the host Bodegas Vulcano Magec Tías will receive CB Nazaret, also from Lanzarote, the winner of the previous edition, Corralejo Suns from Fuerteventura, CB Doguen from La Palma, Luther King and Nuryana from Tenerife, as well as the Austrian Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions and the Slovenians from Jance Basketball Club.
In the women's category, Hamburguesería Cuco Magec will compete with last year's champions from the Canterbury Academy of Gran Canaria, CB Doguen from La Palma, Corralejo Suns from Majorera, Pozuelo from Madrid and Luther King, Nuryana and Tenerife Central from Tenerife.
The first phase matches will take place on Thursday from 10:30 in the morning and on Friday from 9:00, in the Tías pavilion and in the IES of Tías, completing with the second phase on Saturday, in which the teams that will play the final and the consolation final will be decided, which will take place on Sunday.
The women's final will be in the Tías Pavilion on Sunday at 10:45 in the morning and the men's final at 13:00 hours, followed by the awards ceremony.
The tournament is organized by CD Magec Tías in memory of Manuel Seijas Bethencourt, Tomás Fernández Toledo, Tadeo Coll Corredera and Bilal Ahmed Nayin, former players of the club who died 13 years ago in a traffic accident, and which is celebrated on the occasion of the Fiestas de La Candelaria and San Blas of the municipality of Tías.
