The veteran football family of Lanzarote met last Saturday at noon at the Socio-cultural Center of La Asomada, in Tías, with the Veteran Football Association of Lanzarote (AFUVECO) putting the finishing touch to the 2022/2023 season. During the event, the trophies and awards of the recently finished season were presented, and a well-deserved tribute was paid to Craig Allen, manager of Playa Blanca, who passed away suddenly during this campaign.

The event began with the presentation of a series of recognitions to institutions and people who have collaborated this season. AFUVECO presented a plaque to the Tías City Council,
collected by the Councilor for Sports, Sergio García, for their collaboration and for making it possible for the final day of the season to be held in Tías. Recognition was also given to Gustavo Cruz for his help throughout the season.

Trophies were awarded to the top three finishers in the regular season competition in the Preferente and First Category. Playa Honda was proclaimed champion of the
Preferente category and Amigos Latinos VF won the title of champion of the First Category. And in the Insular Cup, Playa Honda also collected the champion trophy.

The most sporting teams in the competition were awarded, with the awards going to Keidea Muebles La Miñoca Jadilanz in the Preferente category and Salitre FC in the
First Category. And the most veteran players in the competition were also recognized, with José Luis Bahillo (CD Tinajo) and Felipe Hernández 'Tata' (Milano Home Factory CD Lomo) being distinguished.

One of the most emotional moments came with the posthumous recognition of Craig Allen, manager of Playa Blanca, who passed away suddenly this season. His
wife and daughters were unable to be present at the event, and the trophy was collected by his friend Sergio Martín, manager of Unión Sur Yaiza. All the players rose from their chairs to give a resounding ovation to Craig Allen.

Tino (Santa María La Vega) received the award for the most veteran manager and Josué Rembado was awarded the prize for the best referee in the competition this season 2022/2023. AFEVUCO also recognized Pedro Luis Borges for his work in reporting on the competition throughout this campaign. And the awards for top scorers went to Israel Hernández (Playa Honda) and Edison Angulo (Amigos Latinos VF).

The awards ceremony of the Veteran Football Association of Lanzarote (AFUVECO) concluded with the runner-up and champion titles of the Preferente category play-off. Playa Honda collected the runner-up title and the players of La Asomada lifted the champion trophy of the 2022/2023 season of the Insular Veteran Football League of Lanzarote.
