The Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas published this Monday, March 20, the announcement of the change of name of the Puerto del Carmen football field. According to the writing, on December 29, 2022, the project to rename it "Manuel Arrocha García Football Field" was known, and the mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, approved the initiative to take effect on March 9.
With the new name of the football field, Tías pays tribute to Manuel Arrocha García, who was a key figure in the C.D.U Puerto del Carmen, actively collaborating selflessly throughout the history of the entity. Arrocha helped for decades to ensure that the team from La Tiñosa developed its activity. He passed away on July 6, 2019.
José Juan Cruz Saavedra signed at the beginning of the month "to approve the change of name of the football field to “Manuel Arrocha García Football Field” on El Rompimiento street s/n" and "to notify the interested parties of the resolution and forward it to the National Institute of Statistics, the Cadastral Management and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Finance, the Land Registry, and the State Society of Post and Telegraphs or other interested Public Administrations."
According to article 75.1 of Royal Decree 1690/1986, of July 11, which approves the Population and Territorial Demarcation Regulations of Local Entities, “the City Councils will keep the nomenclature and signage of public roads updated, and the numbering of buildings, informing all interested Public Administrations".
