Last Saturday, March 11, C.D.Herbania, together with the Canary Islands Canoeing Federation, organized the I Canary Islands Sea Kayak Cup on Los Pozos Beach, Puerto del Rosario. 8 clubs from all over the Canary Islands attended and 167 paddlers participated.

The Marlines left Lanzarote with 76 athletes to face the first challenge of the 2023 Season that has just started. The Cup featured races from the lower categories to the veterans. The event took place in an unbeatable atmosphere and optimal conditions for the development of the Sea Kayak modality.

The day started very well for the Marlines, in the first start good results were already seen from the Lanzarote paddlers. In Benjamin Men, Luis Genzor reached third place and Benjamin Locreille first place.

In the third round of races, it was the turn of the Alevines and the Populars over 18 years old. Attenery Acosta was third in Alevín Women along with the first place that Isabella García achieved, and in Alevín men, bronze medal for Kevin Galvez and gold medal for Tobias Locreille. In Populars, Alba Gomez also won in the women's category, and in men Ramses Luzardo obtained a second place and Victor Lleras the third place.

It was already the turn for the Children. In this fourth start of the Cup, the Marlines managed to score two full podiums in the Infantil B Women and Men. In the women's, the third place was for Bárbara Fajardo, the second for Nerea Rodríguez and the first place for Maeva Carrion; and in the men's, the third place was for Iriome Nieves, the second place for Himar de Ganzo and first place for Franco Ferrari. And in Infantil A Women Carla Medina obtained a bronze medal together with Olatz Labarga who obtained the gold medal. And Gavin Girota also won the gold medal in Infantil A Men.

For the fifth start, the Juveniles, Sub23, Senior, Veterans and the new category implemented this year, the SS2 Mixed, competed. In Juvenile Men, Eduardo Fajardo climbed the podium obtaining a bronze medal, Elba García won the gold medal in the Senior Women category. In Veterans, several medals were conquered: Giada Cerniani a gold in Veteran A Women, Aythami Morera a silver in Veteran A Men and Braulio Fernandez in Veteran E. In the new category, the Marlines premiered with bronze medals for the couple formed by Eva Martin and Cristian Monzon and Lucía León and Aimar García climbed to the first drawer.

And in the last race of the day, all the Cadet categories were measured. In Cadet B Women, Gabriela Díaz obtained the bronze medal and Ariadne Gimenez the silver medal. Pedro Martín obtained a second place in Cadet B Men, as did his partner Andrea Betancor, but she did it in the Cadet A Women category. And Eloy Woelke closed the Marlines medal table, winning on the same finish line as his rival to rise on the podium with the gold medal.

These 32 medals (13 golds, 8 silvers and 11 bronzes) added to all the points obtained by the Lanzarote paddlers made the Marlines de Lanzarote Canoeing Club Champion of the I Canary Islands Sea Kayak Cup with 865 points. In second place was the Club Amigos del Piragüismo with 774 points and in third place the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria with 252 points.

And almost without rest in three weeks, the Marlines team leaves for Menorca to participate on April 1 and 2 in the I Spanish Sea Kayak Cup, which is the first of 4 national competitions that make up the National Sea Kayak League.
