Ordóñez, Delgado, Higón, and Hobbit Team win the international crossfit championship held on Reducto Beach in Arrecife, Lanzarote, with absolute success in participation and public attendance.

Reducto Beach in Arrecife, Lanzarote, vibrated with emotion and spectacle on the final day of the Lanzarote Summer Challenge 2019, the international Crossfit championship that brought together the top representatives of crossfit of the moment on the island. 120 athletes have demonstrated on the sand and in the water that they are the fastest, the strongest, and the most complete athletes, performing a series of strength, balance, and endurance exercises before the numerous public that has packed the stands and avenue, earning them ovations and applause.

Finally, and after proving that they were the best, Alberto Ordóñez in first position, Juan Ballesteros from Albacete in second place, and San Lubben in third place managed to win the title of Rx champions. In the Team modality, Hobbits Team took first place, followed by Friends Connection and Zipi y Zape. In Scale Female, the podium was made up of Marián Higón, Bea Santana, and Melodie Bohny. And in Scale Male, the first place was for Jhonnathan Delgado, followed by Pedro Caballero and Eladio Fontes.

The second day of the Lanzarote Summer Challenge 2019 began promptly at La Playa del Reducto in Arrecife with the dispute of wod number 4, which closed the previous table of the competition. A final test that would grant passage to the final phase to the eight best athletes in each category. The fourth wod offered a high level of crossfit in the fight to enter the finals and be one of the best in this fifth edition. In Scale Female, the Italian Elisa Zena gave no respite to her rivals and qualified first in this last qualifying test. In the men's category of Scale, Omar Álvarez and Alberto Martínez maintained a beautiful duel that gave them the first two places of wod 4.

Great exhibition and great level of the Rx athletes in the last test of the previous phase. Emotion until the last moment that gave the first place to Sam Lubben. The Hobbits Team occupied the first place after completing the last wod and with it the previous phase of the Lanzarote Summer Challenge 2019 was closed.

The best in the grand final


With a luxurious atmosphere on Reducto Beach in Arrecife and completely full stands, the finals began with the eight best athletes in each category fighting to become the strongest in this edition. The very dedicated public received the eight competitors who would fight to obtain the best result in Scale Female. Bea Santana from Gran Canaria completed a magnificent final, finishing the final wod in record time. In men, the rhythm was frenetic from the beginning of the final round. The representation of the best of the regional scene demonstrated the great level of crossfit in the islands. Alberto Martínez from Gran Canaria culminated the final wod in first place in a tough fight against the Venezuelan Jonnathan Delgado.

Rx Final, the time of the strongest in the box, the members of the category would develop part of the final test swimming in the waters of Reducto Beach. A very demanding wod that would determine the athlete in better shape in this 2019 edition. The Dutchman Sam Lubben took command of the test, finishing the rings sector in first position and entering the water as leader. Behind him, Ballesteros, De La Guardia and Concepción who fought to finish the swimming test in the first places. The weightlifting would determine the winner of the final test, which was none other than the world champion Sam Lubben, followed by Alex De La Guardia from Gran Canaria and Rubén Concepción from Tenerife.

Once all the results were computed, the absolute winner in the Rx category was Alberto Ordóñez from Asturias. "I started too strong," declared the athlete residing in Tenerife, "then I relaxed and got here. It has been a surprise." In the Team category, Hobbit Team won, formed by Bryan Hernández from Lanzarote and Rita Martín from Madrid, who assured that "this is never easy, we suffer every drop until the end". His partner Bryan, for his part, stated that "Lanzarote is a destination that people love: the climate, the beach... and that attracts many athletes with a lot of level to championships like this."

Carmen Vicente, director of the Lanzarote Summer Challenge 2019, was very satisfied, "we have exceeded expectations widely, the level of Crossfit that we have experienced has been impressive, the influx of public as well. We have all enjoyed both the wods, very fun, and the athletes, of great level."

After the competition, the awards ceremony took place, which was attended by Roy González, Councilor for Sports of the Arrecife City Council, Nova Kirkpatrick, Councilor for Classified Activities, and Roberto Herbón, Councilor for Public Works. Roy González assured that they were "very excited to see how people have responded, the level of the participants... Arrecife deserves events like this, with this tourist and media impact, we are very happy to have recovered this test and we are going to continue supporting future editions."

Thus culminate two intense days of outdoor sports, spectacle and all the emotion of the best European Crossfit, in the middle of an unbeatable environment, with full stands throughout the weekend, under a perfect temperature and the ideal environment, the capital beach of Reducto, in Arrecife, which with its white sand and crystal clear waters has become the perfect setting for the development of each and every one of the very hard tests that the participants have had to face. With the celebration of the fifth edition of the Lanzarote Summer Challenge, the island of Lanzarote is consecrated as host of major sporting events at international level. After this resounding success, the organization already has its sights set on the celebration of the next edition.
