San José Obrero achieves a comfortable victory by 27 to 38 to retain second place

The Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife returned to competition, visiting Balonmano Reconquista de Vigo on Saturday night, and with the need to secure victory to maintain second place in the standings in group A of the Primera Nacional Masculina. The team led by Alfredo Rodríguez took the initiative from the start, and increased their lead as the minutes went by, to end up winning by a solid 27 to 38.

The first minutes of the match were of probing on the playing court, with an exchange of goals. Before the halfway point of the first half, Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife was already enjoying a three-goal lead, with Javi Aragón scoring into an empty net, taking advantage of the fact that the locals were playing without a goalkeeper (5-8).As the minutes advanced, Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife showed more confidence in defense, and several steals enabled quick counterattacks finished by Joel Armas and Aday González. The 10-15 score on the scoreboard caused the coach of Reconquista de Vigo to call a timeout, and halftime was reached with the maximum difference in favor of the visitors (12-18)The second half had a very similar start to the first half, with an exchange of goals and the Reconquista de Vigo looking to get into the game. Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife did not allow it, and practically in the first ten minutes, they sealed the game. Two counter-attacks finished by Ángel Iglesias and Óscar Silva, and a powerful shot from Mauro Jaureguiberry, made it 17 to 26

Good ball circulation and Abián Martín's shot from the six-meter line increased the lead to ten goals, and Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife reached a maximum lead of twelve goals in this second half (21-33).

The final score of 27 to 38 reflects the superiority that there was on the court, adding the Lanzaroteños team two important points in the search for the promotion phase. With one game less, which is recovered on Wednesday, February 4, against Automanía Luceros, starting at 6:30 p.m. in Titerroy, San José Obrero remains second and with a one-point advantage over Balonmano Ingenio

The expedition of Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife had problems on Sunday to return to Lanzarote, with the flight that was taking them from Vigo to Madrid being cancelled. Finally, eight members of the expedition were able to be relocated on later flights and the rest will have to return to Lanzarote on Monday afternoon
