The La Candelaria International Tournament 2017 celebrates its twentieth edition, becoming one of the references of cadet category basketball and will feature the participation of regional, national and international teams. In addition, this edition has been included within the acts of the "Memorial Amigos del Magec", recognizing the players who have passed through Magec Tías and are no longer with us.
The La Candelaria International Tournament 2017 "Memorial Amigos del Magec" will feature the participation of 16 teams, eight in the men's category and eight in the women's category. It is one of the most international editions, with the presence of teams from Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Madrid, Barcelona, Holland and Ireland. Five days of competition in which the players of all the teams will share experiences and experiences with basketball as a common theme.
The men's category of the XX La Candelaria International Tournament 2017 "Memorial Amigos del Magec" will feature the participation of Baloncesto Torrelodones (Madrid), Taberna de Nino Magec Tías (Lanzarote), New Heroes Academy (Holland) and Nuryana (Tenerife), who will compete in group A. And in group B of the tournament will be Jac Sants (Barcelona), CB Los Toscones (Fuerteventura), CBA (Gran Canaria) and Náutico Tenerife (Tenerife).
In the women's category, Magec Tías (Lanzarote), Mesón Gallego Casa Carlo Telde Basket Tara (Gran Canaria), Lady Meteors (Ireland) and Náutico Tenerife (Tenerife), will share group A of the competition. Group B of the women's category of the XX La Candelaria International Tournament 2017 "Memorial Amigos del Magec" will be made up of Magec Tías 02F (Lanzarote), Nuryana (Tenerife), CBA Amsterdam (Holland) and CIBA Academy Canterbury (Gran Canaria).
The cadet basketball tournament kicks off on Wednesday afternoon, with the first match being played. From 6:45 p.m., Taberna Nino Magec Tías will face Baloncesto Torrelodones from Madrid, a match that will be played at the Tías Municipal Pavilion. The tournament will continue on Thursday from 12:30 p.m., with matches being played simultaneously at the Tías Municipal Pavilion and at the IES Tías Pavilion. The tournament finals will be played on Sunday morning.
The XX La Candelaria International Tournament 2017 "Memorial Amigos del Magec" will also develop a solidarity activity on Saturday. CD Magec Tías, in collaboration with the "Flora Acoge" Association, will carry out a solidarity collection of non-perishable food that will be delivered to the most needy families. Fans will be able to collaborate with the solidarity activity, delivering non-perishable food at the entrance door of the pavilions where the Saturday matches will be played.
The XX La Candelaria International Tournament 2017 "Memorial Amigos del Magec" is organized by the Club Deportivo Magec Tías. It is sponsored by the Taberna de Nino Restaurant, Lidl, Hamburguesería Cuco and Seguros GES and with the collaboration of the Island Sports Service of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Department of Sports of the Tías City Council, Canary Basketball Federation and Island Basketball Delegation of Lanzarote.
