The Lanzarote driver Raúl Hernández achieved fourth place in the Junior World Rally Championship in the Rally of Sweden. On the worst surface, with the most complex conditions for a conejero driver, he competed until the last stage against the best junior drivers in the world, finishing fourth.
The driver was surprising in the current world of motorsport, which has started in Sweden. The conejero even led the classification of the Rally of Sweden, which counts towards the Junior World Championship, where he runs (WRCJ). The super promise of Canarian motorsport, scored a scrathc in the first timed section, and then competed day after day in the icy Swedish lands to enter the podium, something that was snatched from him at the last moment.
The rally started last Thursday, February 15 and was running a total of more than 300 kilometers completing 18 timed sections, ending last Sunday. The Lanzarote native was very fast and competitive at all times, coming within 28 seconds of the podium.
Undoubtedly, experts in the world of motorsport have shown their surprise at the adaptation capacity of a versatile driver, who is able to compete on any surface that is presented to him. And the fact is that ice and snow are the most difficult characteristics that a Canarian driver can encounter, who cannot compete in that type of scenario, since he can never practice. Some sections were run at 27 degrees below zero.
Raúl's team and his co-driver José Murado are already looking forward to the next world championship date, eager to compete, which will be held in Croatia on April 18 and will last until the 21st of the same month.
