The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, the Councilor for Sports, Antonio Pérez, and the Councilor for Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Paca Toledo, visited the remodeling works of the Puerto del Carmen football field, which involve an investment of 850,000 euros and consist of equipping this sports facility with artificial turf, expansion of the bar, paving, raising the walls, stands for 400 people and protective visor for them. The councilors assured that the teams of the local club could play their competition matches of the next season in these facilities, since the grass will be laid before September.
At the end of this action, Puerto del Carmen will have a football field with artificial turf of the Prestige XT 65 quality that is approved by FIFA for competitions of the highest national and international level. This circumstance allows the facilities to be used, in addition to the clubs of the municipality, by First Division teams from different countries who want to prepare for the season in Lanzarote, taking advantage of the weather conditions of the island. The grass will be installed so that at the beginning of September the local club can celebrate its matches in the island competition. In addition to the football field, the City Council has paved the areas adjacent to it to install multipurpose courts for the residents of the area.
