The Island Sports Service of the Cabildo de Lanzarote held this Tuesday the act of lending a snipe boat from the Island Center for Water Sports to the sailors Alfredo González and Cristian Sánchez, who will participate in the World Championship in Argentina from October 29 to November 3 of this year.
“From the moment we knew that this boat was the ideal one for this couple to revalidate their world champion title, we got down to work to get it ready so that they can take the name of Lanzarote to the south of America”, said the Minister of Sports, who personally congratulated the Sports area “for speeding up all the procedures to make the rehabilitation of the boat possible”.
Also present at the event were the sailors Alfredo González and Cristian Sánchez, who explained that this boat, built in 1998, “has a hull and characteristics ideal for sailing in fresh water, as these are the conditions that will be in Buenos Aires”.
It should be remembered that this couple was proclaimed world champion in 2022, in a championship held in the Portuguese town of Cascais. In addition, they recently won the Spanish championship, held by the Real Club Náutico de Santander.
The island boat will have, in addition to the labeling of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Island Sports Service, the sponsorship of Lanzarote Sports Destination, a brand of Turismo Lanzarote.
“We are thus reinforcing our commitment to sailing and water sports, and we will do everything in our power to promote and enhance it”, concluded Juan Monzón.
