The season that San José Obrero has had in its lower categories has not gone unnoticed and technicians from the Royal Spanish Handball Federation have set their sights on the players of the club in the Titerroy neighborhood. Sergio Morera Fuentes, player of the children's team, has been called up by the Spanish Handball Federation to participate in the next concentration of the national children's team.
The good news arrived on Tuesday afternoon when the San José Obrero children's team was training at the Lanzarote Sports City. The club, after receiving the notification from the federative entity, communicated it to Sergio Morena. The player received the news with great joy and looked visibly excited. His coach, Pedro Noda, and his teammates did not hesitate to congratulate him and give him a big round of applause.
Sergio Morera has completed a brilliant season with San José Obrero, actively participating with the cadet and children's teams, proclaiming himself champion of the Canary Islands with both squads. He participated with the cadet team in the sector phase of the Spanish Championship, playing a discreet role. And he attended the sector phase of the Spanish Children's Championship held in Seville, with the team just missing out on qualifying for the final phase and being chosen as the best player. He was also chosen as the best player in the thirty-seventh edition of the 24 Hours of Handball Tournament.
The concentration with the Spanish Children's Handball Team will take place from July 4 to 9 in Soria. During this concentration he will stay at the University Residence of the Duques de Soria Foundation and training will take place at the San Andrés Municipal Sports Complex.
The last San José Obrero player to attend a weekly concentration was Rubén Caraballo, a player who played for the cadet team of the club in the Titerroy neighborhood. He is currently in Tenerife studying at university.
San José Obrero, through a press release, wanted to congratulate Sergio Morera Fuentes for his call-up and highlights that he comes from a family of handball players. His father has been a player of San José Obrero throughout his sporting life, playing last season in the First Territorial Men's team. A player born and raised in the San José Obrero youth academy.
