When it seems that everything is against Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence", the players draw strength from weakness and show that they are capable of achieving what they set out to do, surprising locals and strangers alike.
If the first victory of the season came in a match played 24 hours after another match and with the absence of several players, this weekend the second arrived, without being able to count on Yaiza García or Magali Vilches and with several players from the autonomous team or the junior team. The girls trained by Jesús García overcame all this and managed to win, in a comfortable way and thanks to a masterful last quarter, against Milar Córdoba Women's Basketball.
The match was very even during the first three quarters, with few differences on the scoreboard. In the first period, the Andalusian team achieved up to seven points of advantage, while in the same quarter the difference was up to four for the Lanzarote team. The different changes of advantage between teams were extended up to eight times throughout the first three quarters, where the dedication of the players of both teams was remarkable.
In the last part of the match, Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" made a tremendous effort, drawing strength from weakness. After an even start, it was after the halfway point of the quarter when the Lanzarote team made the difference with an almost perfect zone defense that caused the Cordoba team to get stuck in their attacking game. At that moment, the Tías team took the opportunity to put land in between on the scoreboard, scoring a total of 31 points and closing the match with a result of 69 to 82.
"I am very happy," said the coach of the Lanzarote team, "because everyone has been very good, the players have been committed to the team and the coaching staff and did everything we asked of them."
After the match, the insular team headed to the airport to begin a long journey back home, which tastes much better with a victory. The next match will be the last of the year 2021, at home, against Vega Lagunera Adareva Tenerife, in a solidarity derby where the Lanzarote club will proceed with the traditional collection of Christmas food to help all the people of Tías have a Merry Christmas.
