Sandra Hernández, from Lanzarote, who signed last season with the Catalan team Sant Gabriel, learned this Wednesday that she is on the final list of 21 players who will travel to Costa Rica to play with Spain in the Under-17 Women's World Cup. Sandra Hernández, a player trained in the ranks of Orientación Marítima, has been a regular in the calls for the lower categories of the Spanish National Team. The rupture of the cruciate ligament in her knee prevented her from playing the previous phase of the European Championship last season, for which she was called up. It was more than ten months of rehabilitation and since her recovery she has returned to the plans of the coaching staff of Spain Under-17. At Sant Gabriel she has also been playing minutes to gradually regain her physical shape and confidence.
On the morning of this Wednesday, Jordi Vilda, coach of Spain Under-17, announced the list of 21 players who will defend the Spanish jersey in the World Cup to be held in Costa Rica. The list includes Sandra Hernández from Lanzarote and Andrea Sánchez from Gran Canaria, a player from FC Barcelona. Prior to this call-up, Sandra Hernández has already participated in several training camps with the national team, which have taken place in Las Rozas (Madrid).
The 21 players called up will be concentrated from March 6 to 11 in the City of Football, a facility located in the Madrid town of Las Rozas. Early on March 12, they will leave for Costa Rica, where they will be concentrated in San José, the town where Spain will have its concentration hotel. During the five days they will be in Madrid, the players called up are scheduled to carry out morning and afternoon training sessions, in order to arrive in the best possible conditions for the Under-17 World Cup.
