San Bartolomé CF was unable to add points in their last match in Group XII of the Third RFEF Division, a match that pitted the batateros against UD Ibarra on the island of Tenerife and ended with a victory for the locals with a score of two goals to zero.

The match, in which José Labrador debuted as coach of the first team, was contested by both teams for much of the regular time, although details and inaccuracies made the difference.

The start of the match was balanced, with no clear chances for either team. However, Ibarra had a slight dominance of the game, focusing their attack on the right wing. As a result of these incursions down the wing, the first goal came in a move well worked on the right side. A precise low cross that was taken advantage of by Canillas, who, after an intelligent run between the centre-backs, finished into the back of the net with his right foot.

Despite the lack of clear chances for both teams in the remainder of the first half, Ibarra extended their lead before the break. A defensive error and a misunderstanding with the goalkeeper allowed Enrique Ruiz to score with a header at the far post, making it 2-0 just before the teams went into the dressing rooms.

However, after the break, San Bartolomé CF showed a better version. The batateros had a clear double chance after a corner kick that they could not materialise, with a great intervention from the local goalkeeper. Also, defender Carlos Rosa led a great play in the drive, which culminated in a one-on-one of Simón that would have allowed to cut distances in the score, but again the rival goalkeeper thwarted the opportunity with an outstanding intervention.

Ibarra, with the advantage of two goals and although less incisive in the second half, had an action disallowed for offside, similar to the first goal, which could have further extended the difference.

Finally, the score reflected a 2-0 despite the dominance of San Bartolomé CF in certain stretches of the match. A bitter defeat that forces the team to redouble efforts in the coming days to get out of the relegation zone.

The team's coach, José Labrador, wanted to take the positive side of this bitter defeat: “Small details have decided a match that, perfectly, we could have taken. It's time to work and keep improving to start adding three points and get out of the bottom of the standings”, he said.

San Bartolomé CF will return this coming Monday to training at the Pedro Espinosa “Colón”, already thinking about the next match that will face the batateros against San Miguel, a newly promoted team that currently occupies the eleventh position with 19 points. The match will be on Saturday, December 14 at 18:00 in San Bartolomé.
