UD Lanzarote did a great job on Saturday afternoon to at least win a point in the Lanzarote derby of the Third Federation, in a match that was marked by the early expulsion suffered, with Javi Martín seeing two yellow cards in just thirty minutes. Javi Martín himself was in charge of leveling the match, after the goal conceded from a penalty in the first minutes.
The match started with a lot of intensity, and San Bartolomé managed to take the lead. Striker Judicael was brought down by Ruymán when he was left alone inside the area, with the referee pointing to the penalty spot. The maximum penalty was executed by Judicael himself to make it 1-0.
It only took UD Lanzarote four minutes to level the score. Javi Martín recovered a ball on the three-quarter line, and his powerful shot with his left foot from the edge of the area went into the squad of the goal defended by Agoney.
After the first half hour, Javi Martín received the second yellow card for cutting off a quick play by San Bartolomé. The match lost intensity and the score was tied at halftime.
Despite playing with one less player on the field, UD Lanzarote was never surpassed by the locals. Only in the final minutes did San Bartolomé press, with Ruymán stopping a shot next to the base of the post, and Alex Yunes' shot going just wide of the post.
Draw for UD Lanzarote in the island derby of the category, which relegates the "rodillo" team to fourth position and seeing how UD Las Palmas Atlético goes to 8 points. UD Lanzarote's next opponent will be CD Herbania, a match scheduled for Sunday at the Municipal Pancho Bermúdez.
