Boxing and sports fans in general are in luck. Next May 31st, they will be able to enjoy a great evening of boxing, as the municipality of Teguise hosts the European Boxing Championship for the first time in history. It will be an evening in which the Lanzarote boxer Robert Hilario "Tiburón" defends the European Union Super Middleweight champion belt, and for this he will have the support of all his public. "Tiburón's" rival will be the Italian Roberto Cocco, current champion of Italy and who has an experience of 151 fights.
In the history of Robert Hilario "Tiburón" there are 14 fights as a professional and four of them won by KO. The last one was last February in France, a fight in which he defeated the Frenchman Samy Anouche by KO in the eighth round. A triumph that allowed him to conquer the belts of champion of the European Union and the Mediterranean and that he will now defend on May 31 in Lanzarote. The defense of the European Union champion belt will be held in Teguise, specifically in the Teguise Municipal Pavilion, hosting the municipality for the first time in its history a European Boxing Championship.
The Lanzarote boxer Robert Hilario "Tiburon" will face the Italian Roberto Cocco, a tough touchstone to retain the European Union champion belt. Roberto Cocco has been World Champion on several occasions in the disciplines of Kick Boxing and Muay Thai, and is currently the Italian champion in the Super Middleweight boxing. At 36 years of age, he has 151 fights in his record, with 104 victories and 47 of them by KO.
Robert Hilario "Tiburón" belongs to the Palenke School and has been preparing for this fight for months in a gym in Madrid. His teacher and mentor in the world of boxing has been Manuel Santacruz "Palenke", who accompanies him in each of the fights and advises him professionally.
Before the stellar fight of the night, fans will be able to enjoy five Olympic fights and two professional fights. One of the professional fights will be starred by Cristian Montilla "Pluto", current champion of Spain in the Bantamweight division, and who will face the Catalan Kiko Amarillo. The professional fights will be held at 6 rounds of three minutes each.
The Teguise Municipal Pavilion will have a capacity of close to 2,000 spectators and tickets can now be purchased to attend the evening. Tickets will cost 10 euros for the grandstand area, increasing to 12 euros the price of the ticket in the grandstand if purchased at the box office on the day of the evening. As for the chair area, tickets will cost 30 euros in the 1st and 2nd row, 20 euros in the 3rd, 4th and 5th row, and 15 euros in the unnumbered chairs. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the "Pampero" store, at FitnessMania or at the Teguise Tourist Information Point.
The defense of the European Union champion belt between Rober Hilario "Tiburón" and Roberto Cocco is jointly organized by the Teguise City Council, the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Canary Boxing Federation and Rimer Box. And it is sponsored by FitnessMania, Blue Sea Hotels & Resorts and Cabrera Medina.
