The Snipe class experienced a new competition this Saturday organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, with the celebration of the ASailor Snipe 2025 Trophy. The harsh wind conditions marked the development of the two races held in the bay of Arrecife, in a competition that had the presence of eleven boats. Rafael Lasso and Alonso Pérez took the victory in the ASailor Snipe 2025 Trophy.
The day began with a west-component wind and an intensity of 17 knots. An intensity that increased throughout Saturday morning to between 22 and 24 knots, with gusts reaching 28 knots. These harsh conditions tested the sailors' navigation and caused problems on different boats.
In the first race of the day, the victory went to the pair formed by Leonardo “Nete” Armas and Miguel Bethencourt, taking the lead in the overall standings of the ASailor Snipe 2025 Trophy. The second position in this first race was for Rafael Lasso and Alonso Pérez, and in third position at the finish line were Miguel Ángel Naverán and Lucho Hernández.

The breakage of the spinnaker pole left Nete Armas and Miguel Bethencourt without options in the second race, but they were not the only team to have problems due to the harsh wind conditions. Alfredo González and Cristian Sánchez retired in the first heat to avoid breaking the mast after suffering an accidental gybe. The team of Miguel Lasso and Marcos Peraza and the one made up of Nano Hernández and Daida Cabrera suffered the breakage of the spinnaker pole.
In the second race of the day, Rafael Lasso and Alonso Pérez took the victory, a result that served them to be proclaimed champions of the ASailor Snipe 2025 Trophy. Miguel Ángel Naverán and Lucho Hernández once again finished the race in third position, clinching second place overall. And the podium was completed by the third position of Pedro de León and Alejandro Martín, who finished second in the second heat.
Upon the conclusion of the two races held, the awards ceremony for the ASailor Snipe 2025 Trophy took place, with the presence of the president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, who was accompanied by Sue González, a club director, and Mariano Stinga, owner of the ASailor brand. An event at which Jesús Quevedo Vernetta “Panta” was recognized for his commitment to the Snipe class.
