Óliver Delgado, one of the pearls of basketball training in Lanzarote, has debuted in the EBA category with Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejero. Two games have been enough to convince the coaches of the Arrecife club that the opportunity to debut at 19 years old in the EBA Basketball League has been successful. Last Saturday he had a great performance in the match against CB Pozuelo, pulling the team with conviction and scoring his shots on the basket.
Born in 1999, he occupies the point guard position. His first steps in the world of basketball were in the ranks of CB Grubati, standing out from minibasket for his speed and ball handling.
In 2016 he was signed by the CBA of Gran Canaria and remained there for two seasons, training in the demanding and outstanding basketball academy, where he lived with high-quality players with a bright future, such as the Mexican point guard Diego Willis.
After his experience at the CBA, he returned to Lanzarote to sign for Lanzarote Quesería El Faro Maramajo, a club that this season is linked to Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejero and competes in the First Regional Division.
His debut in the EBA Basketball League was two weeks ago on the court of Zentro Basket Madrid, a match in which he played 15 minutes and scored 4 points.
I was used to playing in the First Regional Division, but the EBA is a very different feeling. It is quality basketball and is considered professional basketball, it is an incredible feeling (Óliver Delgado)
This season he has played nine matches in the First Regional Division with Lanzarote Quesería El Faro Maramajo. Last Saturday he had to wear the Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejero jersey again in the match against CB Pozuelo and starred in a great performance at the Lanzarote Sports City. With 11 minutes and 33 seconds on the court, he scored 7 points (2 of 2 from 2-point shots and 1 of 2 from three-pointers), grabbing a rebound and obtaining 7 valuation points.
Regarding his role in Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejero, Óliver Delgado comments that "I am adapting to the team because I arrive in the middle of the season, but according to Federico Toledo I am adapting well", although he is cautious in considering that "little by little I am finding my place in the team". The young Lanzarote point guard explains that he feels "very welcomed" by the rest of his teammates and assures that "they try to help me and advise me well".
Óliver Delgado wants to continue taking advantage of his opportunity to play in the national category, working training after training to earn the trust of the coaches. Together with Elvis Pereira, another of the young players from the Lanzarote basketball academy, he continues his training to consolidate himself as a benchmark for this sport in Lanzarote.
