Agents of the Local Police of Arrecife, assigned to the Traffic Unit and the Citizen Attention Operative Group (GOAC), proceeded on March 27, 2026 to the arrest of a 27-year-old woman as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of improper appropriation of a vehicle.

The events occurred around 09:30 hours, during a preventive traffic control established on a street in the municipality, with the aim of verifying the documentation of the vehicles and the condition of their drivers.

In the course of the operation, the agents had prior knowledge of the existing report, which appeared as not returned after the termination of a rental contract. Upon detecting it circulating, they proceeded to pull it over. Subsequently, they verified that the report remained in force, also verifying that the lessee had gone 18 days without delivering the vehicle despite the company's requirements.

After confirming these facts, the agents proceeded to the arrest of the driver as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of misappropriation. Likewise, proceedings were initiated for its processing through a fast-track trial (JR), which will allow the procedure to be resolved within an approximate period of 72 hours.

The citizens and companies that have been affected by this type of theft are showing their satisfaction with the response of the Security Forces and Bodies, highlighting the involvement of the agents in the location and recovery of this type of goods.

From the Local Police of Arrecife, citizens are reminded that the non-return of a rental vehicle in due time and manner, once the facts have been reported, may constitute a criminal offense.
