The 'I Copa Federación Canaria de Patinaje Artístico' was held during the days of November 24, 25 and 26 at the municipal pavilion of Teguise, which brought together more than 400 skaters from all the Islands in what has been the first edition of this championship. The sporting event was organized together with the 'Club de Patinaje Fayna' of Teguise, which participated in it together with different skating clubs of the Canary Islands.
The mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, reiterated "the commitment to bet on these championships that allow us to enjoy the sport of the highest level and promote the municipality." "Our goal is to promote sports tourism and thus boost our local economy," she said.
For his part, the Councilor for Sports, Alejandro Ramírez, stressed that Teguise has the "best facilities" to host a championship of such magnitude, and thanks to this, it has been possible to bring together "the best skaters in the archipelago." In addition, he thanked the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Canary Islands Skating Federation for their collaboration in the organization of the event.
Brilliant local participation
A total of ten skaters belonging to the local club competed in the championship last weekend. In addition, it should be noted that three of them reached the podium in the first edition of the 'Copa Federación Canaria de Patinaje Artístico'.
This year the 'Canary Islands Artistic Skating League' was held for the first time, which has consisted of three concentrations in each province, resulting in a ranking where the best of the Provincial Championships of Las Palmas and Tenerife in the modalities of Free, Solo Dance, PAL and Artistic Couples from the initiation levels to the skaters of regional level have been classified.
