UD Lanzarote completed a busy week of competition, with three official matches in just seven days, adding five of the nine points that had been at stake. On Sunday morning, the Rojillos achieved a hard-fought victory against Arucas CF, in a match in which they missed chances to seal the match much earlier and in which they ended up asking for the time to add the victory.
UD Lanzarote was infected in the first minutes by the slow pace proposed by the opponent and when it tried to give speed to its combinations, it committed many inaccuracies. Two shots from Fabricio and Javi Martín from the vicinity of the area were the first clear chances of danger for the locals.
UD Lanzarote took the lead on the scoreboard with a set piece. In the 25th minute, Cedenilla was in charge of executing a corner kick and Keita headed into the back of the net at the far post. The score was 1-0 at the end of the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, Arucas pressed in search of the equalizer and Santi had two good chances to tie. The locals, in the 65th minute, claimed a clear penalty committed on Rodrigo, with the referee not signaling the maximum penalty when he was following the play very closely.
UD Lanzarote began to generate chances to seal the match, but failed to close it out. The clearest action came from Julyan in the 86th minute, with a shot in front of goal, hitting the launch in the body of goalkeeper David Ramírez.
The locals finished the match with ten players on the field, with striker Gonzalo Di Renzo being sent off in a more than disputed action. Three points that allow UD Lanzarote to retain seventh place in the standings, and in a fortnight they will have to visit UD Gran Tarajal.
