Fourth victory of the season, first at home and second consecutive. These are the consequences of the triumph achieved this Saturday by Magec Tías “Against Gender Violence” against Institutos de Compostela -Xunta de Galicia in the Tías Municipal Pavilion.

Jesús García's team arrived confident after last weekend's victory on the leader's field and did not want to miss the opportunity to defeat a direct rival in the fight to avoid relegation. Thus, the Lanzarote team went all out and surprised Chiqui Barros' players, who soon found themselves behind on the scoreboard with a score of 9 to 0. After a Galician timeout, the forces were equalizing on the scoreboard, with a good visitor reaction, until the score was 14 to 10.

In the second quarter, equality continued on the court, with a local team perfectly organized by the Bolivian Romina Rodríguez and with Tatiana Tenorio, the German-American player, in stellar form, touched by a magic wand and winning over the Lanzarote fans with passes, fight and baskets. Magec Tías “Against Gender Violence” continued to dominate the scoreboard, but the visiting players, led on the court by Sara Corredoira, did not make things easy and reduced the differences until reaching halftime with the score of 30 to 28.

In the third quarter, the local team began to falter. One of its pillars until now had been the success in taking rebounds, which did not give the opponent second chances. However, that ease to win under the hoops was lost and the players of the Instituto Rosalía de Castro saw the perfect moment to turn the score around, although without managing to open a gap in it. On the other hand, the local team was taking great care in the aspect of personal fouls and none of its players was in danger of being eliminated, which invited optimism. The fierce fight on the court ended with a visitor comeback and, if it weren't for a triple in the last second by the locals, of a 9-12 partial, which left the overall score at 39 to 40.

From the beginning of the last quarter, both teams went all out, with the peninsular side having worse luck in defense, which soon accumulated fouls, giving Magec Tías “Against Gender Violence”, with 7 minutes remaining, the possibility of taking free throws. Apart from that, players like Paula Rivas or Blanca Manivesa were accumulating fouls and would later leave the game. Meanwhile, the game was being decided in a narrow margin with a basket for one side or a basket for the other and, when the locals seemed to take the lead, a triple from Ángela González appeared that would once again put her team back in the fight.

Tatiana Tenorio continued with her recital and all the balls went to her, who was carrying her teammates on her shoulders and being a nightmare for the rival. The work under the hoops of Carolina Mateo, who danced in the paint with the Galicians in a masterful way, was being perfect to finish the job. The sensations were good and the first victory of the season at home was already in the air, glancing at the match of the third day, where Magec lost by 10 on Galician soil, to weigh the possibility of the basket average at the end of the season.

However, they would have to suffer and with 14 seconds remaining, Magec was winning by only 3 points, with possession for Rosalía. It was time to defend the play to the death without committing fouls, but without letting them shoot, and much less from three. That's what happened and the rival played it from two, but didn't get anything favorable, with Tatiana Tenorio taking the ball, who was the subject of a personal foul.

The German-American was in charge of closing the score, also of opening it with a triple, and put the end at 62 to 57, remaining, in the personal aspect, just one point of valuation to be MVP of the day.

The Lanzarote team is currently in the relegation zone, one victory away from permanence, although they have two postponed matches to recover against direct rivals such as Alhaurín de la Torres and Ibaizabal. Next weekend they will have to visit the court of Mariscos Antón Cortegada, another team in direct fight in the lower zone.
