The young Asturian coach, Luis Rueda, who had an excellent season last year leading the bench of UD Pájara Playas de Jandía, has reached an agreement with UD Lanzarote for the current season. The new "rojillo" coach will arrive on the Island tonight, Friday, and tomorrow, Saturday, will lead his first training session starting at 09:30 hours at the Sports City.
Unión Deportiva Lanzarote reached an agreement in principle with the Asturian coach Luis Rueda, with only the signing of the contract linking him to the Club remaining, an act scheduled for this weekend.
Luis Manuel Vázquez Rueda is 32 years old and is a native of Oviedo, where he was born on December 7. He trained as a coach in the lower categories of CD Covandonga, a team he coached in the Third Division in the 2006/2007 season. Last season he made the leap to the Second Division B, leading the bench of UD Pájara Playas, a position currently occupied by Nacho Fernández, from Mazarrón.
New signings
The arrival of Luis Rueda comes a day after Unión Deportiva Lanzarote closed the first four incorporations for the 2008-2009 season: central defender Iván Martín, from Atco. Granadilla, and Lanzarote midfielders Vladimir and Rubén Rodríguez, as well as striker Maciot.
Iván Jesús Martín Santana (30/01/1984), will be one of the new faces that UD Lanzarote will present for the season that is about to begin. The left-footed player plays as a central defender and last season defended the colors of Atlético Granadilla. Trained in the lower categories of UD Las Palmas, he has played for teams such as Vecindario or Universidad de Las Palmas.
Maciot Román Dévora García (07/07/1978), returns to Unión Deportiva Lanzarote after his time with Orientación Marítima and UD Fuerteventura last season.
Oscar Vladimir Ramos Afonso (31/01/1982), is another player who returns to UD Lanzarote after his time with several teams. The midfielder played last season for UD Vecindario.
The first four signings of UD Lanzarote are completed with the incorporation of left midfielder Rubén Rodríguez García (06/07/1983). Rubén already played for UD Lanzarote in the 2005/2006 season and last season defended the colors of Manchego.
In the chapter of renewals, Toñito, Eliot and Ángel Gil have accepted the renewal offer presented to them by Unión Deportiva Lanzarote. In addition, goalkeeper Marino, defender Dani Mayo and attacking midfielder [Oscar->http://oscars-awards.com] Martín continue in the first team with a valid contract.
