The Canary Islands Championship (CCRS) and Las Palmas Rallysprints, plus the Lanzarote Island Championship, have a new appointment on the nearby Saturday, July 6, with the Tomás Viera Memorial in the municipality of Tinajo and the section of El Cuchillo as the protagonist. A new scoring event for these three championships that will bring together Lanzarote drivers and those who regularly attend regional and provincial rallysprints, which could lead to an interesting entry for the event organized by CD. Evesport.

The program will begin in the morning, with verifications from 9:00 a.m., starting with the first of the six passes at 11:30 a.m. and then the rest of the six heats, planned (three in each direction of the El Cuchillo-Soo section extended to 6.2 kilometers), which will add up to 37.2 timed kilometers.

The final awards ceremony will be at 4:30 p.m. All of this in the town of La Vegueta next to the Yacomar Socio-Cultural Center, as the headquarters of all the activities of the XXIX Rallysprint Tomás Viera-Tinajo 2024.

Recalling last year's edition, it was held in a good atmosphere in the section cut to 5.6 kilometers, once again prioritizing the electrifying spectacle of this section that lives up to its name 'El Cuchillo'. In 2023, there was an interesting fight for the victory in a section that does not forgive mistakes, where there can always be a surprise and full of many fans.

With that scenario, the winners of the last edition were Yeray Lemes with an occasional co-driver, Sotero Martín (Porsche 911 GT3), whose best times in each direction of the section were 2.39 and 2.41, although they will not serve as a reference this year as the mileage increases. They were accompanied on the podium by Oliver Rodríguez-David Rivero with another similar mount and Roberto Hernández-Cristhofer Rijo on a Peugeot 208 Rally4.

The anecdote was marked by the mayor of Tinajo Jesús Machín, who returned to the competition after 11 years of inactivity, achieving an eighth place overall driving a Renault Clio R3T, with his daughter Naroa as co-driver.

Registrations are still open on the dedicated website VRMR System and the deadline will be this Thursday, June 27, at 2:00 p.m.
