Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen was defeated this Saturday at the "Hansi Rodriguez" University Pavilion in León in their visit to Caja Rural Cleba (32-29) in a match corresponding to the seventeenth day of the Women's Gold Honor Division.
The match had two clearly differentiated faces for the interests of Tías. A first part in which Juanmi Pérez's squad was superior, reaching advantages of up to five points. The positive inertia for the Tías team was still felt at halftime (15-18). But after the restart, the team collapsed, in just five minutes of the second half the León team managed to turn the score around. The match remained in a fist until the final minutes. The locals managed a minimal advantage that they would not release until the end of the match.
Fernanda Luján Insfrán became, despite the defeat, the top scorer of the match and her team with nine goals. In the ranks of Cleba, the eight goals of Itahisa Castillo stood out.
The Tías team remains in ninth position in the standings with thirteen points. They have accumulated three consecutive defeats. Caja Rural Cleba is a little further away. They are eighth with nineteen points.
The coach of Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen, Juanmi Pérez, stated at the end of the match that “there have been two different parts. A first part where we went out serious to the match and, perhaps, we did not have a good first part, but, based on exclusions, Cleba was getting into the match. We didn't finish winning it. And a different second part where we didn't start well in the first ten minutes and Cleba was able not only to equalize the match but also go three goals ahead. There we were always behind the scoreboard, we got close, we got close, but it was not possible. In short, two different faces, we have played a very different first and second half. Now perhaps the most important thing is the classification because, for the moment, it remains the same. We have a break of fifteen days, two weeks where it will be good both mentally and physically and be able to be calmer. We continue with the same idea as at the beginning, our objective is what it is, for the moment we are doing well in the classification, well placed and now it is time to wait for the next block of five matches and be able to sentence the objective of the project”, concluded the Tías coach.
Puerto del Carmen will have time to reorganize the team as they do not play until March 15 at 9:00 p.m. They will receive Wise Anaitasuna in the Municipal de Tías, a team that is seventh with twenty points.
