After two consecutive matchdays playing as a visitor in the Men's First National League, LandBit Lanzarote once again felt the warmth of its fans at the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion on Saturday afternoon. The San José Obrero men's team had a complete match against Bueu Atlético Balonman and all the players felt part of the 42-36 victory against the Galician rival.
The first minutes were marked by the exchange of goals and the fast game proposed by both teams. Bueu Atlético Balonman even took the lead on the scoreboard (3-4), and that was what LandBit Lanzarote needed to start imposing its law on the 40x20. Acoidán Martín established the tie, Ángel Iglesias put his team ahead and Aco completed a counterattack, after a steal by Rafa Robayna in defense, to establish 6 to 4.
The difference increased in favor of the locals as the minutes passed, and the scoreboard reflected 10 to 5 when only nine minutes had been played. The coach of Bueu Atlético Balonman requested the first timeout, trying to correct his team's defensive system, which was allowing San José Obrero to attack easily.
As has been happening throughout the last few matchdays, Iñaki Malumbres made many rotations in his team and did not overload the effort made by his players. Rotations in which the return of center back Pedro Cabrera stood out, a player who has been out for more than seven months and is fully recovered from the knee injury. With the score at 24 to 17, the first half came to an end.
Bueu Atlético Balonman was not willing to give up in the second half and make things easy for the opponent. The Galicians, with a partial score of 0 to 3, managed to reduce the difference to four goals, establishing 26 to 22 after six minutes had been played. The reaction of the visitors was what LandBit Lanzarote needed to start working to leave the two points that were at stake in Titerroy.
In this second half, the contribution of the youth player Abián Martín stood out, a player with whom the team's center backs connected, doing a great job from the pivot position and scoring six goals in this match. LandBit Lanzarote controlled the match and did not see the victory in danger at any time.
Victory by 42 to 36 against Bueu Atlético Balonman and that allows LandBit Lanzarote to return to the path of victories in the Men's First National League. With seven matchdays remaining until the end of the regular phase of the competition, San José Obrero is 8 points ahead of Disciclín Balonmano Lalín, a team that this week did not go beyond a draw against Balonmano Ingenio.
